Stocks were hammered today, with the Nasdaq composite falling under the 2,000-point mark for the first time in 27 months, as the sagging technology sector dragged down shares across the board. The Dow Jones industrial average plunged 436.37 points, or 4.10%, to close at 10,208.25; the S&P 500 dropped 53.24, or 4.32%, to end at 1,180.18; and the Nasdaq composite fell 128.28, or 6.25%, closing at 1,924.50.
