Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich., will add the Domini Social Equity Fund as an investment option in its salaried and hourly workers 401(k) plans, with combined assets of $20 billion. The bulk of Fords 401(k) assets are in the salaried plan, although a breakdown was unavailable.
The Domini fund is the first socially responsible investment option Ford has offered its 401(k) participants; the fund tracks the Domini 400 Social index of large-cap domestic equities and avoids investments in companies with tobacco, alcohol or weapons interests.
The Domini fund will be added in April and will become the plans 63rd investment option.
