The Capital Markets Co., New York, is putting on a web conference in which the subject matter is on the move, literally and figuratively.
The web-consulting firm's e-voyage 2000 conferences are part of a real voyage on a clipper ship. The first two "e-voyages" were last month to the Greek Islands. The third conference is scheduled for February in the Caribbean.
Not surprisingly, the theme for the conference is "navigating the future of e-finance."
In addressing the technological scenarios that will shape the marketplace in the next five years, conference speakers will lead small-group brainstorming sessions that will come up with visions of the future of the capital markets, according to the company.
The conference includes sessions on the democratization of capital markets, the death of the intermediary and the fight for talent.
"The e-voyage is constructed around potential visions of the future and interpreting them for what the impact will be on all parts of the financial value chain - from asset management, retail banking, through to exchanges and settlement infrastructure players," Roger Preece, partner of Capital Markets, said in a statement.
