A. Gary Shilling & Co. plans to start a mutual fund, which will be available to 401(k) plans and other investors, that would use exchange-traded funds, tracking domestic and international equities, to implement the firms top-down, macroeconomic strategy, said A. Gary Shilling, president and economist. It will sell short ETFs, as well as go long, depending on the situation, he said. The new fund could be launched this fall, he added.
The firm has $100 million under management through its Thematic Investment Partners unit. Shilling & Co. will be the adviser to the fund.
