Dow Jones Islamic market index weightings will be changed to free float market capitalization each component stocks weighting in the indexes will be based on the number of shares that are available to investors in the market, rather than on the total number of shares issued effective Sept. 18. Excluded are blocks of holdings of other companies, governments or individuals that exceed 5% each.
The indexes comprise 636 stocks, with a total market capitalization of almost $10 trillion, including 234 in the Dow Jones Islamic Market U.S. index and 117 in the Dow Jones Islamic Market Japan index. The indexes represent companies that follow Shariaah law investment guidelines.
