Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirement System, Columbus, is negotiating to hire a timberland investment manager to run up to $25 million, said Richard Curtis, executive director. He declined to name the manager, but trustees of the $650 million pension fund interviewed Hancock Timber Resource Group, Wachovia and TimberVest. Mr. Curtis expects to have a contract in the next couple of weeks.
Trustees also asked consultant Callan Associates to apply new criteria such as newer performance standards to Callans money manager database to find an active small-cap to midcap value equity manager to handle up to $45 million. The board will interview finalists at its Oct. 18 board meeting.
