Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, Al Gores pick for vice president, supports the likely Democratic presidential nominees retirement proposal that would give low- and middle-income families tax credits to save for their retirement. I cant help but admire the details of Al Gores retirement savings proposal, he said in a June 20 statement. But Mr. Lieberman also supports privatization of Social Security which Mr. Gore opposes. Last year he introduced The Savings for Working Families Act, which would help low-income workers save money through individual development accounts, an idea favored by Republican presidential nominee George W. Bush.
In addition, Mr. Lieberman was a key player in the enactment of legislation in the mid-1990s that revamped securities laws.
