Keith Banks was named CEO and chief investment officer of the newly formed Fleet Asset Management, a division of FleetBoston Financial, said Fleet spokesman Bruce Spitzer. Mr. Banks was an equity analyst, portfolio manager, global head of research and most recently, managing director and head of U.S. equities at J.P. Morgan Investment Management. Fleet Asset Management will include Fleet Investment Advisors, Columbia Management, Galaxy Funds, institutional sales and retirement plan services. Former FleetBoston CIO Thomas ONeill stepped down at the end of July to run a hedge fund.
