William M. Bethke will retire June 14 from his position as chief investment officer of the $120 billion general account at The Prudential Insurance Co. of America. He will be replaced by Ron Joelson, who will add responsibility for the enterprise risk unit to Bethke’s CIO duties. Mr. Joelson was senior vice president and, for the past year, headed an internal project relating to the company’s demutualization, said Tim Biggs, a spokesman.
