Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirement System, Columbus, hopes to hire a small-cap to midcap growth equity manager and a new consultant by mid-June.
Callan Associates and New England Pension Consultants are finalists in the $650 million funds consultant search, replacing DeMarche Associates. Richard Curtis, executive director, said he was negotiating a contract with one of the firms. The fund had decided to look for a consulting firm to better fit the funds investment needs, he said.
The fund approved hiring a firm as equity manager for a new allocation, but Mr. Curtis would not identify the firm. The hiring is pending contract negotiations. The firm could run between $30 million and $40 million, he said.
The system is also still reviewing firms that turned in proposals in its small-cap to midcap value equity manager search for $30 million to $40 million after interviewing State Street Research, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Kennedy Capital Management at its May board meeting. The board is likely to decide whether to hire any firm at its July 12 meeting.
