The Commonfund Group and National Association of College and University Business Officers are creating an educational forum -- online and in person -- for treasury management professionals.
The new organization, the Treasury Institute for Higher Education, will provide educational courses at its first conference in New Orleans in January. It also will make information available on the website it is launching in May, www.treasuryinstitute.org.
Jon Speare, managing director of Wilton, Conn.-based Commonfund Treasury Inc., said the institute is about building an education community that will help executives managing cash outside a school's endowment fund adjust to the fast pace of treasury management.
The institute also will feature an e-mail service allowing treasurers to post questions to other professionals listed on the service, helping them find out about best management practices, according to Commonfund executives.
Those interested may register for the seminars and find more information on Commonfund's site, www.commonfund.org, until the institute's website is operational.
