Major indexes cowered like mice as the inflation hawk took to wing. The thought of interest rates swooping higher sent the Dow Jones industrial average underground, as it dropped 293.5 points, or 2.79%, to close at 10,221.07. The Nasdaq scurried for cover, leaving behind 133.27 points, or 2.93%, ending at 4,415.65. The S&P 500 dropped 41.66 points, or 3%, finishing the week at 1,346.6. All closing numbers are preliminary.
