Carpenters, District Council, Arizona, Phoenix, hired NWQ Investment Management Co. to run a $20 million balanced fund for its frozen $100 million defined benefit plan. NWQ replaces Eaton Vance, which was terminated because of poor performance, said Richard Mills, chairman. An Eaton Vance spokeswoman declined to comment on the termination. The fund also has a $78 million defined contribution plan.
