H.J. Heinz Co. Ltd. 1975 pension plan, Hayes, Middlesex, England, dropped Schroder Investment and appointed Barclays Global Investors to run a £170 million ($272 million) index portfolio invested in U.K. and overseas equities, along with U.K. and overseas bonds and index-linked gilts. The £300 million plan retained Mercury Asset Management and is believed to have increased the groups mandate by giving it part of the terminated Schroder portfolio. Heinz officials would provide no further details. Mercury representatives didnt return calls for additional comment by press time.
