Patrick Cannon will join Deutsche Asset Management Feb. 2 as director and head of U.S. equity indexing, a new position. This will be the first time U.S. indexed equities have been overseen by a separate head, said Janet Dorn, a company spokeswoman; the area had been handled by Jim Creighton, Deutsches head of global indexed equities.
Mr. Cannon was a principal and head of U.S. small-cap equities at Barclays Global Investors, where he oversaw about $45 billion in indexed assets. He also was a member of the global equity index investment subcommittee at BGI.
Diane Shew, also a principal, has assumed his duties, said BGI spokesman Tom Taggart. Ms. Shew is a member of the U.S. equity index portfolio management team and has managed a variety of index strategies while at BGI, Mr. Taggart said.
