New Orleans City Employees Retirement System is searching for a new international equity manager, said Jerry Davis, chairman of the board of trustees for the $380 million defined benefit plan. The system plans to shift its focus to active management and will increase its exposure to international equity to between $25 million and $30 million. Currently, State Street Global Advisors manages $12 million in international equities. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, the systems consultant, will submit a list of semifinalists before the end of February. Mr. Davis expects the system to conduct at least two more searches for managers in unspecified asset classes in 2000. The fund also is likely to reduce its exposure to large-cap equity in order to further diversify.
