Barry Griswell was promoted to CEO at Principal Financial Group, Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Griswell, who remains president, replaces David Drury, who will continue as chairman. In addition, John Aschenbrenner, Richard Prey and Michael Gersie have been promoted to executive vice president, new positions. All three had been senior vice presidents. Mr. Gersie will continue to serve as CFO. Former general counsel Gregg Narber will be COO of Principal’s new joint venture with BrasilPrev/Principal in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He will be replaced by Karen Shaff, formerly senior vice president and deputy general counsel. Also, Daniel Houston was promoted to senior vice president from vice president.
