BlackRock hired away senior staff members from Scottish Widows Investment Management, including Albert Morillo, head of the U.K./European desk, and Allan McKenzie, head of institutional sales.
Messrs. Morillo and McKenzie, along with European desk investment directors Kenneth Anderson and David Stanistreet, and client relationship manager Richard Alexander, will join BlackRocks existing Edinburgh team in January.
The move will enable BlackRock to continue to build its global equities business, said BlackRock Chairman and CEO Laurence D. Fink.
SWIM moved quickly on replacements and this morning announced that Fiona McRae, a remaining member of the European team, will replace Mr. Morillo. Mark Richardson, an investment director from the U.K. equities team, and Kathleen Dewandeleer, an investment director from the European emerging markets group, will join the European team.
Replacements for Messrs. McKenzie and Alexander have yet to be announced.
