The wrong photo ran with the "Pink slips instead of pink champagne" story in the Oct. 18 issue. The correct photo, above, depicts SBC Chairman Edward E. Whitacre Jr. (left) and Ameritech CEO Richard Notebaert.
Also, the story on the merger of SBC and Ameritech incorrectly stated that when SBC took over Pacific Telesis Group in 1997 it fired all but three top-in-house managers, whom it asked to form a money management firm to invest for the combined plans. A fourth person, David Russ, also was asked to join the new money management firm but he accepted another offer.
The caption with the photo of Heitman President and CEO Mary Ludgin in the Oct. 18 issue should have read: Ms. Ludgin anticipates doing $600 million in joint ventures with REITs.
The caption in the Oct. 18 News Digest misspelled the name of
Michael Kenneally of Bank of America Asset Management Group.
The first name of Rick Jandrain of Banc One Investment Advisors was misspelled in an Oct. 18 Late News item.
