Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, will have Strategic Investment Solutions review the private equity investment structure of the fund, said James Hacking, executive director of the $10 billion fund. Brinson and Progress Investment currently manage the $179 million private equity portfolio. The firm will report back to trustees at their September board meeting. Separately, trustees have allocated $25 million each to New Amsterdam Partners and Rasara Strategies, as part of its emerging managers program. New Amsterdam will manage a midcap stock portfolio and Rasara will focus on small-cap to midcap financial stocks. The funding will come from investment income of the the equity index managers. Both firms now are part of the emerging manager-of-managers program run by Progress. The board will consider in September whether to increase the allocation to Progress program, which now totals $76 million. Trustees also may allocate another $25 million to Genesis Capital, another domestic equity emerging manager.
