Rational Investors, an Internet-based 401(k) software developer, is being acquired by The McGraw-Hill Cos. to provide participant investment advice through its Standard & Poors division. At the same time, Standard & Poors is launching an interactive, Web-based service called 401(k) Advisor providing investment advice for 401(k) plan participants, plan sponsors and service providers. The investment advice service uses asset allocation methodology developed by Standard & Poors and Rational Investors software. All investment recommendations are delivered by Standard & Poors Investment Advisory Services, which is an SEC-registered investment adviser.
