City of Aurora (Colo.) General Employees Retirement Plan hired Dresdner RCM Global Investors to manage a $25 million large-cap growth portfolio, said Tom Connell, administrator of the $180 million pension fund. The hiring follows an asset allocation study. Funding for the new mandate came from reducing an Ark Asset Management large-cap value fund, which was trimmed to $40 million from $45 million; and $20 million came from terminating a midcap growth portfolio run by Denver Investment Advisors. "We wanted to cut back on our value fund and get out of the medium-size company fund, Mr. Connell said. Dennis Larkin, spokesman at Denver, said that the results of the asset allocation study were actually positive for his firm, because it still manages a domestic fixed-income portfolio for the system, which has been increased to $55 million from $40 million.
