Stuart H. Reese was promoted to executive vice president and chief investment officer at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Springfield. He replaces Gary Wendlandt, who left to join New York Life Insurance Co. Mr. Reese previously was MassMutual's chief executive director of investment management.
David Peck was named vice president of finance and treasurer for Mitchell Energy & Development Corp., The Woodlands, Texas. He replaces W. Brooke Hamilton, who retired.
Mr. Peck will be the head administrator overseeing managers for the $170 million defined benefit plan. His previous position, director of finance, remains vacant.
Leslie Levinson was appointed acting chief financial officer for San Diego State University Foundation. She replaces Kenneth Perry, who retired. Ms. Levinson, who also is vice president of finance, will manage the $34 million foundation until a permanent replacement is named.
Vincent Siciliano was promoted to pension plan administrator at Foamex, Lynwood, Pa. He replaces Fern Bell, who resigned. Mr. Siciliano previously was benefits coordinator. His duties include hiring managers to run its $105 million in defined benefit and defined contribution pension assets.
Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. named Young Chin head of equity management and director of equity management research of the New York-based firm. The position is a new one. Mr. Chin was previously head of equity risk management BlackRock Inc., New York.
John Kattar joined Boston Co. Asset Management LLC, Boston, in the new position of director of domestic equities. He will be responsible for overseeing $10 billion. He formerly was managing director of equities and director of equity research at Phoenix Investment Counsel Inc., Hartford, Conn.
Jon Hickman joined Jurika & Voyles LP, Oakland, Calif., as vice president and portfolio manager. Mr. Hickman previously was senior vice president and managing director at Wells Capital Management, San Francisco. Thomas Zeifang assumed Mr. Hickman's duties.
Kenneth Montgomery was promoted to president of Prudential Institutional Investments & Retirement Services, Newark, N.J., succeeding Mark Fetting, who left for personal reasons after serving in that post for seven years. Mr. Montgomery previously was executive vice president of business development for Prudential's institutional services.
Greg Bundy will be chief operating officer for Merrill Lynch Asset Management, New York, a new position, as of June 1. Mr. Bundy moves over from Merrill Lynch Australia, where he had been co-chief executive officer with John Magowan, according to a company statement. Mr. Magowan will be sole chief executive officer.
Merrill Lynch Asset Management is searching for a chief investment officer to oversee equity investing, said Mark Johnson, spokesman. Norman Harvey, who retired in February, was the equity chief investment officer.
Mohamed A. El-Erian was appointed executive vice president and senior emerging markets portfolio manager at Pacific Investment Management Co. Newport, Calif., a new position. Mr. El-Erian previously headed the emerging markets economic research team in Salomon Smith Barney's London office.
David Hauck was appointed to the new position of fixed-income portfolio manager for HGK Asset Management Inc., Jersey City, New Jersey. He previously was a fixed-income specialist for PaineWebber in New York. In his new position he will deal mostly with mortgage-backed securities and high-yield bond management.
Brian S. Allen joined C.S. McKee, Pittsburgh, as a vice president and portfolio manager in the fixed-income group, replacing Nathan Sax, who left the firm last fall. He had worked as a fixed-income portfolio manager at Los Angeles-based Patterson Capital Corp., where he left 10 months ago, said Joseph Patterson, chief investment officer. Mr. Allen's duties were assumed by others at the firm at that time, Mr. Patterson said.
Alan W. Robertson joined Northern Trust Global Investments, Chicago, as senior vice president and director of institutional product development. Mr. Robertson replaces John Hunt, who left more than a year ago, said Stephen N. Potter, senior vice president and director of the institutional group.
Mr. Robertson most recently was a principal at Eager Manager Advisory, Louisville, Ky., which is searching for a replacement, said Jack Doyle, a spokesman.
