Kansas Public Employees Retirement System, Topeka, narrowed a small-cap U.S. equity manager search to three finalists and is expected to make a final decision at its April 16 board meeting, said Scott Peppard, assistant investment officer for the $9.2 billion fund. Finalists are Barclays Global Investors, Brandywine and Dimensional Fund Advisors. The new manager will run $260 million funded possibly by reducing large-cap U.S. equity investments, said Mr. Peppard. The hiring will help the fund increase its small-cap exposure to 15% from 11%.
