Texas Firefighters Pension Commission, Austin, hired Brandes Investment Partners to run an EAFE portfolio, which is a first and will further diversify the fund, said Morris Sandefer, pension commissioner. The $4 million allocation will come from reducing large-cap value U.S. equity and domestic fixed-income investments. Separately, the fund is searching for its first core small-cap U.S. equity manager to run up to $4 million as a result of an asset liability study. No RFPs were issued; all proposals are being handled by Callan Associates, the $28 million funds consultant, he said. Funding also will come from reducing large-cap value U.S equity and domestic fixed-income investments, he added. A decision is expected by May.
