George D. Appleby has been named senior vice president at Independent Fiduciary Services to head up its new office in Minneapolis. Mr. Appleby was previously a vice president and senior financial consultant at Merrill Lynch. IFS is a consulting firm that primarily advises organized labor pension funds. It also conducts operational reviews or one-time evaluations of the investment practices and investment programs of public and private pension funds, and acts as an independent fiduciary or outside adviser on financial transactions.
