St. Paul (Minn.) Teachers Retirement System might triple its small-cap U.S. equity exposure to 15% and eliminate its domestic midcap equities, following a recent asset-liability study, said Eugene Waschbusch, treasurer for the $750 million fund. The board will meet Feb. 17 to discuss the study. If the midcap asset class is eliminated, Oppenheimer Capital, which currently runs $80 million in midcap equities, will shift it to another asset class, he said. If a domestic small-cap equity manager search is approved, an RFP wouldnt be issued before March, said Mr. Waschbusch. Callan Associates is assisting.
