    WILMINGTON, Del. -- As of Sept. 30, E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.'s total employee benefit assets decreased 4.8% from a year earlier. Defined benefit assets decreased 7.1% during the same period. Defined contribution assets decreased 1.7% from those reported as of July 31.

    Employer contributions to the defined benefit plan increased 10%; benefits paid decreased 2.4%.

    During the past year, the fund, in partnership with DRA Realty Advisors, paid $210 million for a national community shopping center portfolio.
