    SEATTLE -- As of Sept. 30, Boeing Co. total employee benefit assets decreased 0.6% from a year earlier. Defined benefit assets decreased 1.7% during the same period; defined contribution assets increased 1.5%.

    Employer contributions to the defined benefit plan were unchanged.

    The defined benefit master trustee and global custodian is Chase Manhattan Bank. The defined contribution master trustee is State Street Bank & Trust.

    Key personnel overseeing the investment management of the both funds are Gary B. Bland, vice president, trust investments; Marie G. Colthorp, director, retirement funds; Mike Cappetto, manager, trust investments; Jim Wadhwani, manager, portfolio investments; and Virginia Gilliam, administrator, trust investments.

    KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- As of Sept. 30, the Boilermaker-Blacksmith National Pension Trust's total employee benefit assets increased 3% from a year earlier. All assets are defined benefit.

    Employer contributions to the defined benefit plan increased 8%; benefits paid increased 20%.

    Domestic equities: Atalanta/Sosnoff; Carl Domino; Fiduciary Management; Husic Capital; Lazard Freres; Neuberger Berman; Nicholas-Applegate; Shields/Alliance.

    International equities: Bank of Ireland; Lazard Freres.

    Domestic fixed-income: Scudder, Stevens & Clark; Ark; Financial Counselors; Loomis Sayles; Columbia Management; McMorgan; Atalanta/Sosnoff.

    Real estate: J.P. Morgan; AEW; John J. Smith; Lend Lease; Prudential.

    Balanced: McMorgan; Trust Co. of the West; Duff & Phelps.

    The defined benefit master trustee/custodian and global custodian is Brotherhood Bank & Trust.

    David E. Hanson, financial director, oversees the investment management of the fund.

    CLEVELAND -- As of June 30, BP America's total employee benefit assets increased 29.5% from a year earlier. Defined benefit assets increased 5% during the same period; defined contribution assets increased 69%.

    In August, the British Petroleum Co. PLC, BP America's parent company, announced it would acquire Amoco Corp. The Federal Trade Commission approved the deal at the end of the year. The new company BP Amoco Corp. will oversee the combined employee benefit assets of the two firms.
