California Public Employees
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The $145 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System has approved $175 million in three new alternative investments: a $75 million investment to TL Ventures IV; a $25 million investment to Communications Venture Partners IV; and $75 million to Questor Partners Fund II.
Kent County Employees
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The $360 Kent County Employees' Retirement System hired David L. Babson as its first small-cap value U.S. equity manager to diversify the fund, said Marilyn Beemer, benefits & compensation administrator. Babson will manage $18 million. Asset Consulting Group assisted.
Ontario Teachers Pension
NORTH YORK, Ontario -- The C$55 billion ($36.2 billion) Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board named State Street Trust Co. Canada as its new global custodian. State Street, which replaces Chase Manhattan, is "a good match for our needs, particularly in information technology and new products," said Lee Fullerton, fund spokeswoman.
State Street also was chosen as the fund's master custodian in December, taking over from CIBC Mellon.
Rockford Fire Pension Fund
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The $103 million Rockford Fire Pension Fund hired T. Rowe Price as its first domestic small-cap equity manager.
Funding will come from an internally managed fixed-income portfolio.
