    M-Search Investment

    Manager Database System

    Mobius Group Inc.

    This manager database and analytical system contains comprehensive qualitative and quantitative data on more than 1,300 investment management firms and 5,000 composites. Key features include: in-depth narrative information on each firm, its key investment professional and the investment philosophy and process of each product; performance universe comparisons selecting from more than 85 Mobius universes and any user-defined peer groups; sophisticated style analysis and downside risk analysis capabilities for evaluating style drift, performance attribution, and risk adjusted performance; an interface to Morningstar's Principia mutual fund database for the importing and analysis of mutual funds; a user-entered data feature for the analysis for individual portfolios and managers not included in M-Search; a manager blend feature for creating and customizing composite portfolios; and the ability to create custom benchmarks for more accurate relative performance comparisons.

    License fees begin at $5,000 annually. There are approximately 500 users.

It includes Vestek Systems' expected returns forecasts and comprehensive historical returns data sheets, multiple methods for assessing risk tolerance and access to returns on more than 5,500 private account manager composites from Mobius Group's M-Search Investment Manager Database System.

    License fees begin at $3,500 annually.

    It runs on Windows 3.1x, with updates via CD and the Internet.

    This 32-bit Windows-based performance reporting and evaluations system produces performance reports for portfolios, asset class segments and portfolio/asset class composites. The system calculates accurate time-weighted and dollar-weighted rates of return for different time periods, analyzes risk on an absolute and market-relative basis, analyzes current and historical asset class and sub-asset class allocations, evaluates performance relative to peer groups and analyzes the performance effects of investment managers' asset class and security selection decisions.

    License fees begin at $2,000 annually. There are approximately 80 users.

    It runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT, with updates via Internet and CD-ROM.

    The system is targeted at consultants, broker/dealers, banks and plan sponsors.

    Par Equity Workstation

    Parata Analytics Research Inc.

    This stock and portfolio analysis system offers company analysis, stock valuation, stock selection, portfolio construction, portfolio analysis and portfolio comparisons. It emphasizes fundamentals analysis and five-year investment horizons and supports more than 2,500 stocks, updated weekly.

    The cost is $8,000 to $12,000 per year, depending on configuration. Volume discounts are available. There are 22 users.

    It runs on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and DOS, with updates via Internet.

    The system is targeted at portfolio managers and analysts.

    Phoenix Systems Inc.

    This mutual fund portfolio accounting software can process funds of every type. There is no software limitation on the size of an individual portfolio. The system combines portfolio maintenance, complete transaction history, general ledger functions and pricing functions into a single integrated system whose primary purpose is to provide the fund with timely, accurate accounting in an easy-to-use, cost-effective manner.

    The cost is a $60,000 or higher one-time license fee. There are 45 users.

    It runs on Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 and Novell 4.x, with updates via disk, BBS and Web site.

    The system is targeted at investment management, mutual funds, trusts and insurance companies.

    NSCC Defined Contribution Clearance & Settlement

    Phoenix Systems Inc.

    This software allows administrators of employee benefit plans to handle investment activity such as purchases and redemptions automatically with a broad range of mutual fund companies.

    The cost is a one-time license fee of $30,000 or more. There are 10 users.

    It runs on Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Novell 4.x and the H-P version of UNIX, with updates via disk, BBS and Web site.

    The system is targeted at TPAs.

    PAM for Mortgages

    Princeton Financial Systems

    This portfolio accounting and management system manages, accounts for and services portfolios of commercial mortgage loans. It is designed to handle complex loan structures, including adjustables, floaters, interest-only loans and GPMs as well as unusual workout structures and multiple investors.

    There are 46 users.

    It runs on DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT, with updates via CD and BBS.

    The system is targeted at insurance companies and banks; clients include GE Financial Assurance, Ohio National and Union Central.

    PAM for Mutual Funds

    This portfolio accounting and management system includes all the features of PAM for Securities, but also produces daily NAVs and other reports required by mutual fund companies, investment managers or insurance companies managing separate accounts.

    There are more than 250 users.

    It runs on Windows NT and Windows 95, with updates via CD.

    The system is targeted at mutual fund companies, investment managers, banks, plan sponsors, and insurance companies; clients include MainStay Funds, CalPERS, Allmerica and Aeltus Investment Management.

    PAM for Real Estate

    This system does asset management and accounting for real estate assets held by insurance companies and other institutional investors; produces Schedule A reports for filing with the NAIC; and interfaces with PAM for Mortgages to provide integration for managing investment strategies and report investment results.

    There is one user. The first release will be Jan. 1.

    It runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT, with updates via CD or BBS.

    The system is targeted at insurance companies and pensions. Clients include McMorgan.

    PAM for Securities

    This portfolio accounting and management system automates the entire investment management process, from portfolio management, accounting and operations to analysis and reporting. It handles all security types, including equities, global securities and fixed-income statements from routine bonds to CMOs, swaps, TBAs and derivatives.

    There are more than 300 users.

    It runs on Windows NT and Windows 95, with updates via CD.

    The system is targeted at insurance companies, banks, investment managers, plan sponsors and institutional investors. Clients include Prudential, MassMutual, Aegon USA, Travelers and Microsoft.

    IMS-2000

    QED Information Systems Inc.

    This portfolio management and investment accounting system provides portfolio management, investment accounting and financial reporting functions to large institutional investors. It is designed for high-end users and can support a heavy volume of concurrent transaction processing and inquiries. Among the applications are portfolio modeling, AIMR-compliant performance measurement, shock analysis, interactive report writing and data analysis.

    There are 1,000 users.

    It runs on a Sun platform under Windows NT, Macintosh, OS/2, Solaris or any other operating system, with updates via tapes, modem and the Internet.

    The system is targeted at portfolio managers, investment accountants, operations professionals, financial advisers and pension fund managers. Clients include regents of the University of California, Ameritech, New Jersey Division of Investments, Ohio Securities Trust and the New York State Teachers' Retirement System.

    QReturns

    QED Information Systems Inc.

    This performance measurement system allows investment professionals to analyze AIMR-compliant, time-weighted performance measurement data using information directly from the IMS-2000 or other accounting database. It provides access to information such as fund composites and asset groupings, percentage returns and underlying accounting data at all levels and offers comparisons to benchmarks, returns broken down by any time frame and returns gross and net of fees and taxes. Reports are easily converted to graphs or spreadsheets.

    There are 700 users.

    It runs on a Sun platform under Windows NT, Macintosh, OS/2, Solaris or any other operating system, with updates via tapes, modem or the Internet.

    The system is targeted at portfolio managers, research directors, investment strategists, pension fund managers, chief investment officers and financial advisers. Clients include Intech, New Mexico SIC, Colorado Treasury and the New Jersey Division of Investments.
