Everett (Mass.) Retirement Board hired Freedom Capital to manage the $55 million pension fund on a six-month interim basis until the board conducts a search for multiple managers, according to meeting minutes.
BankBoston managed the fund until its two lead institutional portfolio managers - Larry Kimball and Todd Finkelstein - went to work for Boston Advisors.
Separately, the board hired Bob Shaw as executive director, a new position. Mr. Shaw currently is investment director of the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission of Massachusetts, which works closely with the state pension funds. He begins Nov. 2.
