Mr. Campbell is on sabbatical from Harvard, where he is the Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics and director of the Program in Asset Pricing at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
He has been on PanAgora's academic advisory board for six years.
Mr. Campbell said he recently did an investment audit for PanAgora, which gave him ideas that could help it further develop its global stock model.
Separately, Jarrod Wilcox was appointed director of overseas products and development, a new position at PanAgora. Mr. Wilcox previously was director of research. He was replaced by John Capeci, who was a large-cap and small-cap portfolio manager.
