The median European equity account, returning 6.0% and 37%, outperformed both the MSCI EAFE and the S&P 500 indexes for the quarter and the year ended June 30, according to the PIPER Managed Flash report. The MSCI EAFE returned 1.1% for the quarter and 16.1% for the year, while the S&P 500 returned 3.3% and 30.2% for the same periods.
The median overall international equity return for the 165 accounts in the report was 1.5% and 10.2% respectively.
The Pacific Rim excluding Japan took the strongest hit for the two periods, dropping 25% for the quarter and 49.7% for the year.
