Pan-American Retirement & Investment, a bundled record keeper for 401(k) plans, last week started providing retirement plan participants and sponsors secure Internet access, with a standard Web browser, to retirement plan account information.
Beginning the first quarter of next year, Pan-American, which is a division of Pan-American Life Insurance Co., plans to add retirement planning tools, investment education and portfolio modeling, said Gregg A. Fischer, manager of marketing services for Pan-American Retirement & Investment Services, which serves plans with an average asset size of about $858,000. The added features probably will include risk assessment portfolios. Pan-American's Web site is www.401k4u.com.
Salem (Mass.) Retirement System, with more than $55 million in assets, has hired Gabelli Asset Management to manage $4 million in a domestic small-cap portfolio, said Mary Perotis, analyst for Salem. Segal Advisors assisted. Funding will come from the balanced portfolio of 1838 Investment Advisors, which was terminated last year
