While members of the Association for Investment Management and Research were tackling investments trends at AIMR's 1998 conference in Phoenix, staffers back in Charlottesville, Va., were bedeviled with a more slippery subject: a snake.
It seems heavy rains in the area drove serpents and other wild creatures to higher ground; in this case, one of AIMR's three office buildings. The snake didn't disrupt workers, although some employees felt more comfortable working on their desks rather than at them.
The snake hasn't been seen for weeks. However, one staffer noted that at one point the snake was headed for the offices housing AIMR's lawyers. No word on whether the snake was looking for food or companionship.
