ABN AMRO's foreign exchange office in London, which today began quoting euro currency rates, quoted the new currency at 1.1164 to the U.S. dollar. In addition, it quoted the euro at 1.4766 to the British pound sterling and 147.23 Japanese yen to the euro.
ABN AMRO today began quoting currency rates in a synthetic market for the euro. Citibank will begin quoting euro currency rates tomorrow. The euro officially begins trading Jan. 4.
