Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago trustees voted yesterday to establish a 4% allocation to domestic midcap equities and issued an RFP for active U.S. midcap managers. The allocation will be split evenly between passive and active management.
The $8.9 billion fund also hired Northern Trust Quantitative Advisors to manage a midcap index portfolio, according to the minutes.
Executive Director Michael Nehf was unavailable for comment. Mercer will assist.
Richard A. Curtis joined the $650 million Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirement System, Columbus, as executive director. He replaces R. Dean Huffman, who retired.
Mr. Curtis had been a member of the system's board for eight years, ending in 1985. He worked for the highway patrol for 24 years, retiring in 1994 as its assistant superintendent.
He joins the system from Franklin University, Columbus, where he was director of its graduate school
