SEARCHES & HIRINGS
San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System plans to send out RFIs at the end of this week in a search for a multifamily housing real estate manager.
The fund's $85 million portfolio currently is managed by SSR Realty Advisors, which is expected to seek rehiring.
A follow-up RFP to the RFI will probably go out around the second week of February and could be due back in early March. A final choice could be made in April. Dates are tentative. Townsend Group, the fund's real estate consultant, is assisting. The $9 billion fund decided to do the search as part of a yearly review of real estate.
Thorn PLC, Chertsey, England, outsourced management of its £40 million ($65 million) in U.K. captive insurance money to Gartmore Investment Management and Hill Samuel Asset Management, said Michael Turner Samuels, group treasurer. Gartmore and Hill Samuel will run bond portfolios of £25 million and £15 million, respectively.
Hill Samuel already manages some £12 million captive money for Thorn.
Quaker Family of Mutual Funds, Valley Forge, Pa., hired Compu-Val Investments to manage its new Quaker Mid-Cap Value Fund. Compu-Val uses a proprietary cash flow-based valuation model to screen for companies with significant appreciation potential.
The Quaker fund is Compu-Val's first mutual fund management deal.
