TACOMA, Wash. -- Frank Russell Co. has made a major expansion in its international operations.
As of Jan. 1, Craig Ueland will be chief financial officer of the consulting giant. He succeeds Jim McDonald, who will become president of Frank Russell International Services Co.
Mr. Ueland will continue as managing director-international operations. His promotion signals the likely succession of Len Brennan to the top of the international tree. Mr. Brennan has been named managing director of Frank Russell Co.'s European operation, also effective Jan. 1.
He will assume responsibility for Russell's Canadian operation and joint venture relationships in Asia, in addition to his responsibilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The firm does not yet have joint ventures with Asian firms. Mr. Brennan said: "We primarily in Asia would like to extend the manager of managers concept."
The firm has joint ventures with money managers in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France and South Africa.
John Stannard will become managing director of Russell's U.K. operation. He was director of Russell Analytic Services in Europe. Loretta Leberknight will assume Mr. Stannard's previous role.
She was director of marketing for the performance-measurement unit.
John Ilkiw, previously head of Russell's Canadian consulting operation in Toronto, will become director of U.K. consulting. He will be succeeded in Toronto by Jim Franks, senior consultant. Mr. Ilkiw will work with Robert Ross, who previously held this title and now becomes director-client services, primarily with U.K. clients.
The changes come shortly after Don Ezra, Russell's managing director of consulting and of investment policy & research, transferred to the London operation from Tacoma to become director of European consulting.
