Russ Flynn, director-pension investments at Chrysler Corp., Auburn Hills, Mich., will retire effective Nov. 30. He will be replaced by Mark Schmid, manager of manufacturing group accounting. Mr. Schmid will oversee the investments of the $17 billion pension plan.
Mr. Flynn said that after he retires he wants to remain active in the investment arena ``because it's an exciting place to be.''
Scott Lummer, managing director in Ibbotson Associates' consulting services group, will be leaving the firm at the end of the year to form his own investment consulting practice. Mr. Lummer said he has signed on one client, and is looking for space to rent in the suburbs of Chicago.
Ibbotson will be looking to hire four new executives to take on his duties as part of an internal restructuring of the consulting group, a spokeswoman said. Ibbotson's educational workshops no longer will be a part of its consulting group, she said.
William J. Wheeler has been named senior vice president and head of the newly created capital management group at Metropolitan Life Insurance. He previously was senior vice president in the investment banking division at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. The capital management group will assist MetLife in evaluating, managing and raising capital
