NEW YORK - Bloomberg L.P., New York, and InvestorsEdge, San Francisco, said they will broadcast financial information over the Internet to users of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0.

The new version of Microsoft Corp.'s Internet browser has what Microsoft is calling active channels. The channels are different content areas, and Bloomberg and InvestorsEdge are providing information to these areas.

Bloomberg is known for providing information, pricing data and analytics through its terminals. Through the browser, it will provide world and business news, currency rates, commodity prices, economic news and financial market data.

InvestorsEdge, through its StockPoint product, will provide stock and fund quotes, personalized online portfolio management, security recommendations, charting tools, stock research and news.

For more information contact [email protected] or Chris Taylor at (212) 318-2660.

    Reuters expands Internet use

ZURICH, Switzerland - The news and information group of Reuters Holdings PLC, London, announced it is launching three products in Europe that use Internet technology to relay data and news to a broad audience of financial experts.

The launching signals the trend toward adopting Internet-style standards as a key way to display information, according to Reuters company officials at a news conference in Zurich.

Two products, Reuters Markets Monitor and Reuters Markets View, offer data, news and historical information for use on internal intranets.

The third, Reuters Investor, is for private investors.

    Indonesia model in the works

BERKELEY, Calif. - The first equity risk model available for Indonesia will be developed by a 14-member consortium, according to officials with BARRA Inc., Berkeley.

"The recent dramatic depreciation of the rupiah and the fall of the Indonesian stock market underscore the need for risk management," said Gene Chen, senior vice president of BARRA International Ltd., Hong Kong. "We are quite pleased to have so many local institutions committed to this effort in spite of the recent developments in Indonesian capital markets."

Members of the consortium are the Institute for Financial Analysis Development, ABN AMRO Investment Management, Bahana TCW Investment Management, Bira Asset Management, the Jakarta Stock Exchange, Danamon GT Management, Danareska Fund Management, Intru Nusantara (Makindo), Omnireska Nusantara (Usahas Bersama Securities), Bank Papan, Pentasena Arthatama, Sigma Batara, Tirtamas Majutama and Tunasmas Paduarta.

Members of the consortium will have exclusive use of the model through August 1999.

They will also be entitled to participate in a series of seminars that will be conducted in Jakarta at the Institute for Financial Analysis Development.

    Corporate actions tracked

BOSTON - Fidelity Technologies Enterprise Data Systems, Boston, has announced a securities processing information system to gather corporate actions data.

Called ActionSource, it automates the processing of corporate actions data from multiple sources and stores the processed information in a central repository.

A common problem in the back offices of large financial institutions is that the gathering of corporate actions data is manual, and labor intensive, said John F. Rao, president of Fidelity Technologies.

Fidelity declined to provide pricing information. For more information, contact, Mr. Rao at Fidelity at (617) 563-7000.

    New data warehousing software

COLUMBIA, M.D. - Eye Street Software has announced data warehousing software for portfolio managers.

Called Miami 1.1, the software consolidates data into a central location.

It groups, sorts and filters data and offers pre-defined reporting layouts.

Portfolio managers can avoid having to access different systems to retrieve data, assemble it on a spreadsheet, and then manipulate the data, according to John Lau, president of Eye Street Software.

    Seminars scheduled

The following software workshops are scheduled for this month.

A fixed-income portfolio management seminar is planned by BARRA Inc., Berkeley, Calif. The session will be Oct. 16 at the Broadway Millennium in New York.

Sessions will offer research discussions and hands-on demonstrations of BARRA and Global Advanced Technology software. For more information contact Liz Webster at BARRA, (510) 649-4265.

Capital Management Sciences, maker of BondEdge for Windows analytical software, has scheduled some fall workshop meetings.

It will hold workshops in New York Oct. 28 and in Chicago Oct. 30 at the Fairmont.

The workshop will review trends in the fixed-income market and demonstrate enhancements of CMS products.

For more information, contact Teri Geske at CMS at (310) 479-9715.
