MONTPELIER, Vt. - Trustees of the $776 million Vermont State Teachers' Retirement System reversed their position and decided to dump its $10 million in tobacco stocks.
The divestiture by the Vermont teachers' fund will be done in an orderly fashion over time, in concert with money managers, said Robin Strader, administrative assistant to state Treasurer James H. Douglas.
Other public pension funds in Vermont - the Vermont State Employees' Retirement System and the Vermont Municipal Empolyees' Retirement System voted in June to sell tobacco stocks.
