William T. Bisson Jr., publisher of both newspapers, announced Mr. Clowes' promotion, effective July 7.
Nancy K. Webman, executive editor of P&I for more than 10 years, was promoted to succeed Mr. Clowes as editor.

In his new role as editorial director, Mr. Clowes will be able to make sure both publications are correctly focused and balanced for their industries. He also will be looking for ways to grow the editorial franchises for all related products and services.
Ms. Webman will have full responsibility for the day-to-day editorial operations of P&I.
