NEW YORK - Crain Communications Inc. announced it will introduce a weekly newspaper, InvestmentNews, for the investment advisory and financial planning marketplace.
InvestmentNews will begin publishing Sept. 8. Two preview issues will be be published this summer.
The circulation of 60,000 will include professionals such as registered investment advisers, financial planners, registered representatives, insurance marketers, trust officers, bankers, accountants and attorneys offering financial, investment, estate planning, advisory and other services to individuals. It also will circulate to executives at firms that provide this audience with investment and planning products and services, including investment companies, broker/dealers, wirehouses and investment exchanges.
InvestmentNews will provide timely news coverage of the events that directly affect the investment advisory and financial planning industry. It will focus on economic, investment and legislative trends as well as on current developments within the business.
InvestmentNews Publisher Bill Bisson said: "We've been monitoring the financial planning business since 1980. This industry is growing. It is becoming more professional, and has a more sophisticated, demanding client base. With a growing percentage of individual investor assets now being influenced by investment advisers and financial planners, we believe the time has come to launch a high-frequency news publication for these professionals."
"InvestmentNews will be unique in its ability to bring together news affecting the financial planner audience," said Editor Mike Clowes. "Other media report this news in scatter-shot fashion."
InvestmentNews will be based in New York, and will have a staff of 17 in New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington and San Francisco.
It will be overseen by the management of Pensions & Investments. Crain publishes 30 publications, including P&I.
