Saving for retirement is a serious undertaking, which is why it's so surprising that Dalbar Inc. proposed April 1 as National 401(k) Day.
While it's true that April 1 - "4/01" is an "easy-to-remember date," it also happens to be April Fools' Day.
The Boston-based publisher timed the proposal for National 401(k) Day with the launch of its report on the future of 401(k), 403(b) and other defined contribution plans.
Among the predictions of experts featured in the report: Everyone will manage their 401(k)s using their TVs and that someone will beat out Fidelity Investments in the 401(k) market.
