A risk management primer is being offered through a video-based computer program called Risk Insights.
Risk Insights centers around video snippets from 15 investment professionals and academics, including James Lam, Fidelity Investment's chief risk officer.
The videos describe different aspects of risk, using real-world applications.
The descriptions are linked a number of different ways, and a glossary is provided.
Users of Risk Insights can choose the areas on which they want to focus, and work at their own pace, said David Hull, managing director for Learning Insights L.L.C., Chicago, the producer.
The program costs $1,000, and comes on four CD-ROMs that need to be rotated periodically while in use.
Executives at Learning Insights said they plan on offering additional programs in finance and accounting.
