BLUE BELL, Pa. - Frank G. Frey III, chairman and chief executive of The FMS Group, Blue Bell, died Feb. 6 after a brief illness.
He was 54.
Mr. Frey, a longtime financial services marketing executive, was sales and marketing director at Fidelity Bank, Philadelphia, from 1964 to 1980, when he started FMS Group. FMS was one of the pioneers in offering sales and marketing consulting services to investment management firms.
While at FMS, Mr. Frey was instrumental in the start-up of Brandywine Asset Management Inc., Wilmington, Del., in 1986. He was a partner of the firm and its sales and marketing director for several years until his interest in the firm was bought out.
Norman R. Lubin, managing director in charge of sales and client services, was named CEO.
FMS recently finished its most successful year in revenues and new client generation, and its management - including Mr. Frey - had sketched out a strategic plan to grow the firm, said Mr. Lubin. Those plans will go on as expected, and FMS will add staff in the next few months, including a replacement for Mr. Lubin.
Mr. Frey is survived by his wife, Madeline Becker Frey, and two daughters. A memorial service was held Feb. 10 in Philadelphia. Donations may be made to the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, Drawer 808, Southeastern, Pa. 19399-0808.
