Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, hired Baron Capital Management to run a small-cap value portfolio for its $333 million pension fund. A company official confirmed the hiring but declined to comment further.
According to the Nelson's Directory, the former manager of the portfolio was Putnam Investments. Putnam officials confirmed the termination, but declined to comment.
