University of Washington endowment fund, Seattle, hired three alternative strategies managers, said Susan Ball, associate treasurer. The $550 million fund hired Vestar Capital Partners, committing $5 million to a buy-out fund; New Enterprise Associates, committing $3 million to a venture capital fund; and TA Associates, committing $2 million to $5 million for venture capital.
Funding for all three will be gradual and come from reallocations, cash flow and new contributions. Cambridge Associates assisted.
